The Day of Travel

The day of travel. Today I left my home in San Diego at 6:15 AM to head to the airport for my 22 hour travel day. I’m flying from San Diego-> San Francisco before hopping on a 12 hour flight to Seoul South Korea. While my first leg was easy peasy, San Francisco caused me a little more stress. Turns out I won’t be able to exchange my money in SF to be set up with VND and IDR. But that is okay and I’ll just take care of it once I land in Ho Chi Minh. My flight from SF to Seoul was delayed which gives me a little bit of stress as I have a tight layover in Seoul. However, I am choosing to think positive and know we will make this time up in the air. Apparently on flights to South Korea you have to wear a mask. While this is okay it was strange wearing a mask again on a flight, especially a 12 hour flight. I decided to start binging perfect match on this flight because it is mindless and I have a whole season to watch. I am trying my hardest to stay awake as long as possible on this flight because when I get to HCM I land at 9 PM, so I want to be able to pass out once I get to my hostel. As I sit on my flight to Seoul,  IT does not seem real that I will be in Vietnam in about 19 hours. I am absolutely ecstatic and know this adventure will bring so much joy into my life. Little bit of turbulence now which I hate though so I’m gonna try to pass out.

Alright. After SPRINTING through the Incheon airport I made it with 10 minutes to spare. That delayed flight from San Francisco had me stressing but we got it done. I am sweaty and feel for whoever sits by me on this next flight. 6 hours till Vietnam yall. I have to stay awake for this next flight even though its technically midnight at home. That way I’ll be set up for success for this trip. Time to read a book (Love with a Chance of Drowning, one of my favorite travel memoirs), watch some Netflix, and daydream about this trip. That’s all for now y’all, I’ll  write more when I am officially in HCM.

I arrived!! I had a solid last flight trying my hardest to stay awake so I can pass out as soon as I get to the hostel. Which was its own challenge when I had the whole row to myself. However, I did get to see a lovely Seoul sunset as I took off so I am a happy camper. Check out the next post to hear what happened when I got to my hostel and my adventure began.
