Kyoto 9/20/2024
So far, I am loving Kyoto. I arrived late in the evening on Wednesday and ended up meeting some friends at the hostel. There was a couple of other Americans who were headed out to meet up with some people they had met in Tokyo and they were kind enough to let me crash. we walked around a few different bars, the night away, and just got to enjoy the city. One thing I forgot is how quickly the morning sneaks up to you when you’re out and about in a fun city. A very fun night into a very slow morning. In the morning, I decided to go to a nearby temple. I checked out the gardens and had the opportunity to see some incredible Japanese art. There is an exhibit at the garden, where you could not explore the temple, but get to see a collection of art by the person who did incredible dragon mural on the ceiling. After a quick power nap back at the hostel, I went over to Nishikin market. This is a huge street with all the food vendors you could ever dream of. I chow down on fresh scallops, tempura, Wagyu, Matcha, everything my heart desired. After, I had to walk around the shopping street and found my piece of local street art that are always collect when I am traveling to a new country. The friends from the night before told me they were heading to a place for some famous tiramisu so I joined them for more Matcha. After wonderfully eating my way through Kyoto, we all came back to the hostel to recover from the ungodly heat. Got changed and headed to the Fushimi Inari shrine for sunset. This is 10,000 torii gates that lead to the top of the tall mountain. While one person decided to go to the top, the rest of us called it enough about 6000 gates in. The views were gorgeous but the heat was unbearable. We came back to the hostel, had some sake, then went out for some yakitori for dinner. Then back to the clubs for a night of dancing. So now i have my last day in Kyoto. I had a bit of work to do to start off, then i decided i needed some ramen and a massage. I wandered around Kyoto a bit but now i am getting ready for dinner with the girls for a great last night. I’m off to Tokyo tomorrow early morning
