My last full day in Canggu! I started the day off with a smoothie bowl from the hostel as I got ready for a day of being pampered/ Today was a spa day. I went to the incredible Bodyworks in Seminyak. This spa was something straight out of a movie. With its pink Moroccan architecture and amazing services I feel incredibly relaxed. When I first arrived I was greeted with a cool towel and kind smile. They told me I had about 20 minutes until my services so I good wander the grounds and take some photos. Holy cow. This place was STUNNING. The pictures do not do it justice.
I decided to do two treatments, an exfoliation massage and a marine collagen facial. First up was the massage. Ayu greeted me and took me up to my private room. She asked what areas I wanted to focus on and the amount of pressure wanted. She also continuously asked throughout the treatment to make sure everything was as planned. This treatment begins with a 65 minute Balinese massage, then the entire body is painted in a brown, granular paste (the traditional Javanese ‘lulur’) containing turmeric, sandalwood, cinnamon, and rice powder. The paste is then gently rubbed to exfoliate the skin.
After a quick rinse, the body is covered in fresh yoghurt. The enzymes stimulate cell activity and restore the pH balance of the skin, which feels soft as silk after the yoghurt is washed away. The final step involves luxuriating in a warm, fragrant, flower-filled bath. Ayu brought me some ginger tea while I laid in my flower bath and I was in heaven.
After completing this treatment, Ayu took me to meet Yuda, my facialist. This luxurious facial is focused on counteracting signs of early aging, combating excessive dryness, fine lines and wrinkles. While these aren’t all concerns for me, it was one of their newest and most popular facials so I decided it was the move. Yuda used the concentrated Marine Collagen and Caviar on my face before implementing a steamer on my skin to soak it all in. These products restore the skin’s elastin protein fibers, which is perfect to improve elasticity, leaving the skin feeling more plump, toned and with a youthful glow. This facial was ideal for dry skin which I thought would be ideal for me. She also gave an incredible arm and neck massage as she swapped through different creams and products throughout the facial. It took everything in me not to pass out as I went through these treatments. The best part was, all of this only cost $60. If I was to have something similar in the US it would likely be hundreds of dollars. I love Bali. I love travel.
Now I am back at my hostel about to go join the pool party, where you get 2 for 1 drinks when you order in your swimsuit. But I will be responsible and order some food first because I missed the free BBQ they through while getting myself pampered. Who knows where the night will take me, but the people I’ve met here are going to hold a special place in my heart. Tomorrow I head to Ubud, more central within Bali and an adventurous jungle paradise. Thank yall for all following along<3
